# Omit > Bookmarks that self-destruct in seven days. Omit is a Chrome side-panel extension that gives every saved link a 7-day countdown — read it, vault it, or let it go. Local-first storage, no telemetry, no account, bring-your-own AI key. One-time $19 for Pro, no subscription. Status: Live on the Chrome Web Store as of 2026-06-02. Install: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/omit-%E2%80%94-read-let-go/fileakhpajjcfjigpeiimcaodlbhgdgi Omit is built by laFlow (https://laflow.dev). All bookmarks live in `chrome.storage.local` on the user's machine. AI features (summaries, chat, weekly archetype) call Google Gemini directly from the extension using a free API key the user grabs from Google AI Studio. The server stores nothing except the email tied to a one-time Pro payment. Compatible with Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers. ## What Omit does - **Time decay** — every saved bookmark gets a 7-day countdown ring. The closer to zero, the warmer the color, creating urgency by design. - **The Vault** — tap the infinity glyph to keep a bookmark forever. Vaulted links can be grouped and color-coded. - **Ghosts** — expired bookmarks are not deleted. They move to a Ghosts archive and can be restored in one click. - **Tab Sweep** — bulk-import every open tab into Omit with one click. Each gets its own 7-day timer. Close the tabs, keep the knowledge. - **Ask AI (Pro)** — summarize, question, and synthesize across any saved link or the entire collection. Uses your own provider key. - **Smart Summaries (Pro)** — one-click gist of any link. - **Reading Archetype (Pro)** — every Sunday, Omit tells you who you are as a reader. Archetypes include The Hoarder, The Completionist, The Drive-by Scholar, The Monk, and The Synthetic Pigeon. - **Notion sync (Pro)** — one click turns a vaulted bookmark into a Notion page with an AI summary, your notes, and the original link. Obsidian export also supported. ## Pricing - **Core** — free forever. Includes the 7-day decay engine, unlimited Vault with groups, the Ghosts archive, Tab Sweep, and 100% local storage. No telemetry, no account. - **Pro** — $19 one-time, lifetime perpetual license. Adds Ask AI, Smart Summaries, Reading Archetype, Notion sync, and priority updates. Bring your own AI key — calls go from your browser straight to the provider, so AI cost to laFlow is zero. There is no monthly subscription. There are no caps on saves at any tier. ## Privacy - Bookmarks live in `chrome.storage.local` on the user's machine. They never leave the device unless the user explicitly enables Notion sync. - AI calls go from the browser directly to the AI provider chosen by the user. Omit servers do not see links, queries, or content. - No telemetry. No analytics. No account required for the free tier. - The only data stored on Omit servers is the email address tied to a one-time Pro payment. - An explicit consent dialog appears before any AI feature is used for the first time. ## Who Omit is for - People who save 30+ links a week and read fewer than 5 of them. - Readers who feel guilty about a 1,000+ entry bookmark bar. - Tab hoarders who restart their browser at 100+ open tabs. - Knowledge workers who want a reading list, not a landfill. - Privacy-conscious users who refuse subscriptions and don't want their reading history on a server. ## How Omit compares - **vs. Pocket (DISCONTINUED)** — Mozilla shut Pocket down on July 8, 2025. The apps were removed from app stores, new saves were disabled, and the export window closed on October 8, 2025. Omit is the closest spiritual replacement for former Pocket users: local-first, one-time pricing, with a 7-day decay mechanic instead of an infinite archive. See https://getomit.pro/vs/pocket.html. - **vs. Matter / Readwise Reader / Instapaper** — those are read-later apps with permanent storage and (often) cloud accounts. Omit is the opposite: every link expires in 7 days unless you actively vault it. See https://getomit.pro/vs/matter.html. - **vs. Raindrop / GoodLinks** — those are bookmark managers focused on tagging and organization. Omit's premise is that organization is the wrong problem; the right problem is filtering. See https://getomit.pro/vs/raindrop.html and https://getomit.pro/vs/goodlinks.html. - **vs. browser bookmarks** — browser bookmarks save forever, decay never, and accumulate without friction. Omit reverses every default. ## Pages - Landing and overview: https://getomit.pro/ - About / manifesto: https://getomit.pro/about.html - Press kit: https://getomit.pro/press.html - Comparisons hub: https://getomit.pro/vs/ - Omit vs Pocket: https://getomit.pro/vs/pocket.html - Omit vs Raindrop: https://getomit.pro/vs/raindrop.html - Omit vs Matter: https://getomit.pro/vs/matter.html - Omit vs GoodLinks: https://getomit.pro/vs/goodlinks.html - Full content as markdown: https://getomit.pro/llms-full.txt - Privacy policy: https://getomit.pro/privacy.html - Terms of service: https://getomit.pro/terms.html - Changelog: https://getomit.pro/changelog.html - Support: https://getomit.pro/support.html ## Install Omit launched on the Chrome Web Store on 2026-06-02.
